March

Well March slipped by with not much of a peep from me. Things were happening though.

The Mercedes found a buyer! Yay! So happy to be free of car responsibility for a while.

My friend had her wedding in Austin. The wedding was lovely and my first trip to Austin was not a disappointment, We even managed a little downtown action and country dancing while in town.

Work sent me to Miami...it was tiring. I did manage to make it to South Beach though. I enjoyed some Gelato and snapped this pic in front of the famous Versace house.

 

And lastly, it is not knitting...but it is crafty! My sister paid the family a visit for Spring Break and this was her birthday present from me. A Gnome.

And then there was one....

That one would be me. I have been a terrible poster for multiple reasons, but my excuse for January will be getting ready to say good bye to Captain Edelweiss. It has been a roller coaster of if he is going or not going, but he is now gone to Iraq for an estimated 15 months. Part of the reason I want to try harder to post is for him to see what I am doing as well.

Here we are with my parents at 1:30 am Friday morning. The Army is so great and picking flight times....not.

Friday afternoon the truck and car are packed to the gills....I wave my last goodbye to the Fayettevile apartment. Onward to DC!   

Rhinebeck, NY

Two weeks ago 7 other knitters and I made our way up to Rhinebeck, NY  for New York Sheep and Wool. To some that may seem strange, but for us it was a wonderful adventure. I didn't do a good job of taking photos throughout the trip, but I did manage to snag a few...

Married....

Well I fell off the blog for a while again.  I have made it back somewhat.  I didn't talk to much about my personal happenings, but I got married July 21.  We are still planning on doing something later, but the now DH might be going away to Iraq or Afghanistan and he wanted to have things squared away in case he left.  We took a nice trip to Williamsburg afterwards...although I still want my out of the country trip eventually!!

We couldn't have asked for better weather or a more enjoyable occasion.  We didn't do many typical wedding things (but I did cave in for a bouquet) which left more time to goof off playing yard games and just hanging out with a few friends and family.

I have basically finished my shrug and have actually started plotting on a new project.  Either a Rebecca pattern I have the GGH yarn for in stash OR a picovoli tee in the first yarn I bought when I got back from Austria at Knit Happens.  I think the picovoli might win, because it is HOT out and long sleeves are not catching my interest yet.

My Other Hobby

I usually post about my travels or my knitting (or lack there of lately), but I don't have much to show. Last Friday at Late Night I got the big Tsk Tsk from Nurse Laura for not postng.  How could I remedy this?  A new topic! There is one hobby I have never chatted about much....dance.  I have been in ballet and other dance forms since I was about 6. I still participate, even if it is less serious now. I was really overwhelmed with all the rehearsals and recitals this last while. Now that it is over things have calmed down and I am feeling better.  Here is a picture of 5 out of 6 of the "black swans".

Back Home

So I'm back home from my trip to my second home.  I saw my Grandpa and other relatives.....went to Trier and to Hamburg.  There was a decent amount of shopping sprinkled in there, too.  This was my longest vacation away from work since I started this job and it was nice.  It was great to no worry about work and not worry about wedding issues either.  I got a 70 peice set of silverware which I was determined to get on my trip and some cutes clothes as well.  The one thing I ended up not getting was any yarn for myself.  The yarns stores were not so conviently located to other important sightseeing attractions and the first store had the yarn my friend wanted so I got that as requested and decided that my trusty Rikes Wollmaus will just have to mail me whatever else my heart desires back here to the US.  Highlights would be getting my haircut by my cousin Jenny, riding in my cousin Sven's sporty Mercedes convertible and eating lots of new fish in Hamburg.  I found some cottages on the waterfront of the Harbour.  Maybe I will just get one of those instead of a place here:)  I hope to include pictures shortly.

So Maybe It Was Me

So I put in a help ticket to typepad.  I moan about my pictures not uploading, and they ask if I am saving them for web use (100k or so in size).  Oops, maybe not.  A 14 MB file? Never!  Oh, well.  At least I get to show off a few cute pics before I leave after all.
